Kakamega Homeboyz coach Nicholas Muyoti has said that their target of finishing in the top five in the 2018/19 SportPesa Premier League season is still within reach, eight games before the end of the term.

Homeboyz came from a goal down to draw Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) 1-1 on Saturday in Machakos to stretch their unbeaten run to nine games.

“I want to stick on the team targets to finish in the top five, if any better position comes beyond that we shall welcome it,” said Muyoti adding, “I am happy with the way we are working, I believe we are focused and know exactly what we are supposed to do.

“My boys showed character especially after KCB scored early and we came back better in the second half after making a few changes. As I always tell my players, you’ve to be ready to salvage the team whenever called upon,” concluded the former Thika United and Nzoia Sugar coach.

His opposite number Frank Ouna rued missed chances that cost them yet another three points as their winless run extended to five games.

“We are creating many chances but scoring only one goal partly because we don’t have enough training session to rectify some of these things because of the nature of this season.

“Some of these things need a lot of repetition in training but now we’ve some days to work on them as we prepare for Gor Mahia match on Thursday,” said Ouna.

Homeboyz are fourth on the 18-team log with 42 points, 12 ahead of 12th placed KCB after 26 rounds.
