What you need to know:

  • In other quarter-final match-ups, Ulinzi will head to Kakamega for a date with hosts River-Plate FC at the Bukhungu stadium, before the tournament defending champions AFC Leopards face Kenya Police at the same venue.
  • Also, Sofapaka will face Tusker in this tournament, whose winning team not only pocket Sh2 million, but also earns the opportunity to represent Kenya in the Caf Confederation Cup next year.

Kariobangi Sharks midfielder Sven Yidah has urged his teammates to capitalise on Gor Mahia's recently shaky form when the two teams meet in the quarters of the FKF SportPesa Shield this weekend.

These two teams will square it out at the Kenyatta stadium on Sunday in one of the last-eight fixtures confirmed by Football Kenya Federation.

“There are some moments during the season when if I am to be honest you, we will not have wanted to face them (Gor Mahia)," said the defensive-minded midfielder, who earned his first international cap this year.

“But when you look at them at the moment, I think we will fancy our chances, they look tired and are not at their best."

K’Ogalo, who were crowned Kenyan champions last week, have lost in their last two continental games against Algeria’s USM Alger and Rwanda’s Rayon Sport, plus in a separate league clash against Bandari in Mombasa.

Not that Sharks, who were promoted to the top flight last season are fairing better anyway.

Following Wednesday's 3-0 triumph over hapless Thika United, William Mluhya's Sharks have won in only two of their last six league assignments are currently ranked seventh on the league standings.

In other quarter-final match-ups, Ulinzi will head to Kakamega for a date with hosts River-Plate FC at the Bukhungu stadium, before the tournament defending champions AFC Leopards face Kenya Police at the same venue.

Also, Sofapaka will face Tusker in this tournament, whose winning team not only pocket Sh2 million, but also earns the opportunity to represent Kenya in the Caf Confederation Cup next year.
