Kenya up two places in Fifa rankings

Kenya has risen two places in the latest Fifa rankings released by the global football governing body on Thursday.

Harambee Stars are now placed in position 111, up from 113 despite less activity over the past month.

The rankings come in the wake of the appointment of a new coach with the team seeking to qualify for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

Stars are currently managed by coach Sebastien Migne, who has hit the ground running following his appointment on May 3.

The Frenchman recently selected his first squad consisting local based players and took them through a daylong training session at the Camp Toyoyo grounds in Nairobi on Tuesday. 

Fkf on Thursday announced that team will play Swaziland and Equatorial Guinea in international friendly matches next month in readiness for the crunch 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Ghana set for September.

Uganda is the top ranked nation in region at position 74 with Rwanda (123), Sudan (124), Tanzania (137), Ethiopia (146), Burundi (146), South Sudan (157), Djibouti (198), Eritrea (208) and Somalia (207) following in that order after Stars.

World Cup-bound Tunisia are top in Africa and 14th globally followed by Sengeal (28), who will also play in Russia next month with Democratic Republic of Congo placed third.

Morocco (42), Egypt (46), Nigeria (47) and Ghana (50) follow next in that order. World champions Germany maintain top spot ahead of Brazil, Belgium, Portugal and Argentina.
