Black Stars gore Kisumu AllStars to move third

Kibera Black Stars registered their second win on the trot after edging out visiting Kisumu AllStars 2-1 Camp Toyoyo grounds in one of the four National Super League (NSL) matches played on Friday.

The visitors took an early lead through Shadrack Omondi but Henry Onyango and Shaban Abdullahi struck one apiece to send Black Stars third on the table standings with 30 points.

Second-placed Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) also have 30 points but with a superior goal difference.

“Great work from the boys at least the momentum is back and we need to maintain our current form to achieve our targets,” said Black Stars coach Godfrey Oduor after the match.

Earlier on at the same venue, Western Stima dropped two points following a one-all draw with Talanta.

Former Posta Rangers and City Stars striker Paul Karuri shot the hosts ahead on 21 minutes before Godfrey Ochieng’ grabbed a last-gasp equaliser.

Stima, who suffered their second defeat last Sunday at the hands of rivals Nairobi Stima, remain top on 36 points after 18 rounds.

Elsewhere at Afraha Stadium, Nakuru AllStars picked their second win of the season with a hard-fought 2-1 over Modern Coast Rangers.

Said Mohamed opened the scoring for the Mombasa-based side in the 17th minute but second half strikes from Jerome Baraka and Peter Thiong’o ensured the hosts pick maximum points.

AllStars, coached by Ezekiel Akwana, however remain bottom of the log with eight points from 16 matches.

KCB visits Nairobi Stima in the highlight of four fixtures slated for Saturday while Ushuru will be up against Bidco United in the only match set for Sunday.
