What you need to know:

  • Besides Oliviera, it is understood that Gor Mahia are also looking at Kerr's compatriot Jamie Day, who currently handles the Bangladesh national team.
  • Zedekiah Otieno, who served as Kerr's assistant last season and is currently holding brief, is also under consideration and still, is expected to be in charge of the team during the preliminaries of the 2018/2019 Caf Africa Champions League clash against Malawi's Nyasa Bullets.

Luc Eymael has ruled himself out of replacing Dylan Kerr at Gor Mahia.

The Belgian trainer exclusively spoke to Nation Sport on Wednesday from his base in South Africa.

Formerly the coach at AFC Leopards in the SportPesa Premier League, Eymael was recently sacked by Free State Stars in the Premier Soccer League, incidentally, at about the same time Englishman Kerr was dumping K'Ogalo for South Africa's Black Leopards.

Reacting to reports he's about to join Gor Mahia, Eymael said: "I can say I will not be coming there (to Kenya) to work. I will let you know when I sign for the club. That will be the right time because I have several other offers to consider."

Eymael's disqualification leaves Brazilian Robert Oliviera Goncalves do Carmo as favourite to be named Gor Mahia coach.

Besides Oliviera, it is understood that Gor Mahia are also looking at Kerr's compatriot Jamie Day, who currently handles the Bangladesh national team.

Zedekiah Otieno, who served as Kerr's assistant last season and is currently holding brief, is also under consideration and still, is expected to be in charge of the team during the preliminaries of the 2018/2019 Caf Africa Champions League clash against Malawi's Nyasa Bullets.
