Kenyan Premier League debutants Vihiga United have reappointed Edward Manoah the team’s head coach for the next three years.

Manoah was unveiled Monday at Kidundu Stadium in Vihiga County by club chairman Kahi Indimuli who revealed that the tactician beat five local coaches and seven foreigners who had applied for the job.

“Manoah is a professional. During the selection process, we also looked at the element of continuity as he assisted the team to clinch the 2017 National Super League title,” Indimuli said.

Manoah expressed gratitude to the club’s management for re-appointing him. “I will work hard to ensure the team performs well in the Kenyan Premier League. My target is to finish among the top five teams,” he said.

At the same time, the club unveiled 11 new players acquired on three-year contracts.

The 11 include strikers Andrew Murunga from Kakamega Homeboyz FC and Michael Isabwa (Kariobangi Sharks FC), goalkeepers Godfrey Oputi (Palos FC) and Ali Kesi (Kakamega Homeboyz FC).

Vihiga gained promotion to the top flight in November last year after they beat Ushuru 1-0 to wrap up their season at the top of National Super League standings with 80 points from 36 matches.

They were promoted automatically alongside university side Wazito.
