New signing Michael Madoya came off the bench to score twice as 11-time Kenyan champions Tusker edged out visiting Malawian side Silver Strikers 2-0 in a friendly match at Ruaraka grounds on Friday.

Five minutes after replacing Rwandese Amini Muzerwa, Madoya - acquired from Zoo Kericho earlier this month - broke the deadlock on 35 minutes finishing off a rebound after Silver Strikers custodian Brighton Munthali had parried Clyde Senaji’s shot.

Madoya would double Tusker's advantage two minutes after the restart in a build up he initiated by finding Timothy Otieno with a through pass before the later, sandwiched by Silver defenders, picked out Marlon Tangauzi on the far right who in turn found Madoya to bury home the ball.

The diminutive midfielder would have struck a hat-trick but Munthali kept him at bay on 69 minutes.

“I am excited and look forward to contributing more for this club so that we can achieve our target of winning this season’s title,” said Madoya after the match.

The Malawian side struggled to penetrate the Tusker back line led by Ugandan Rodgers Aloro, roped in from Sofapaka, and Justin Omar.

On 48 minutes, Mark Fooya’s free kick from outside 18 missed the target by a whisker with Tusker’s Rwandese shot-stopper Emery Mvuyekure well beaten.

Tusker coach Robert Matano fielded an entire different squad in both halves with new faces displaying their qualities.

Sammy Meja, Muzerwa Amini, Billy Oporia and Oscar Masiga are some of the new acquisitions that featured in the game.

The Malawian side are in the country ahead of their Caf Confederation Cup preliminary round fixture away to Gabon outfit Cercle Mberi Sportif set for Tuesday.
