Migne: Sunday's match will be a final

  • The team is scheduled to jet back on Thursday evening ahead of the reverse tie.

After holding hosts Ethiopia to a goalless draw in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) Group “F” qualifier at Bahir Dar stadium on Wednesday, Harambee Stars coach Sebastian Migne has promised a tougher match when the two teams faceoff in the reverse tie on Sunday at Kasarani stadium.

Kenya failed to convert the few scoring chances created in both halves with the Walya Antelopes replicating the same at a packed Bahir Dar stadium.

The draw sent Kenya top of the group on four points similar to Ethiopia after three rounds. The standings could however change should the Confederation of Africa Football (Caf) officially expunge Sierra Leone from the qualifiers following their suspension by Fifa last Friday.

“We missed some opportunities in the first half and after it was difficult in an amazing atmosphere,” Migne said after the match.

He added: “We did some changes which were interesting but after the injury of my left back (Abud Omar), it was difficult. I think we deserved a draw. We will try to win in four days time, it will be a final between the two teams.”
