Nakuru derby highlights NSL fourth round

What you need to know:

  • The duel scheduled for Afraha Stadium will see AllStars, winless in three matches, attempt to bounce back from their 1-0 defeat at the hands of Kibera Black Stars last weekend in Nairobi.
  • Neighbours St. Joseph have collected three points in as many games but this doesn’t worry AllStars coach Chrispin Abuya.

Former Kenyan Premier League (KPL) side Nakuru AllStars hosts rivals St. Joseph’s Youth in the Nakuru derby as the National Super League (NSL) enters Round 4 on Saturday.

The duel scheduled for Afraha Stadium will see AllStars, winless in three matches, attempt to bounce back from their 1-0 defeat at the hands of Kibera Black Stars last weekend in Nairobi.

Neighbours St. Joseph have collected three points in as many games but this doesn’t worry AllStars coach Chrispin Abuya.

“The record speaks for itself, they (St. Joseph) have never been better than us. We’ve prepared well for the match, though winless but I am not worried because we still have many matches to play,” Abuya told Nation Sport on Friday.

Elsewhere, Western Stima host debutantes Kangemi AllStars in a tricky encounter at Moi Stadium.

The two sides are separated by just a point, with Stima at the summit of the standings on seven points from three games following their hard fought 1-0 win over pace-setters Isibania in the previous tie.

Coach Godfrey “Solo” Oduor will be out to lead Kibera Black Stars to their third win of the season when they visit Administration Police in the second encounter at Camp Toyoyo grounds on Saturday.

“We need to maintain the good form we’ve started the season in but we know our opponents will be tough,” he said.
