Eldoret Youth on Saturday collected three points without kicking the ball after Nyakach FC failed to show up at Wareng’i stadium for their Football Kenya Federation Division One Zone B match.

Nyakach are said to be facing serious financial constraints with a majority of its players complaining over unfulfilled promises.

The walk over sees the Uasin Gishu-based club take their unbeaten run to 23 games, maintaining their grip at the helm of the league on 61 points. They have won 19 games and drawn in four.

Speaking to Nation Sport, Eldoret Youth head coach Evans Mafuta said they are now focusing on winning the three remaining games, as they are one match away to be declared FKF Zone B winners.

“We were well prepared for the match but our opponents failed to turn up. Nevertheless, I am happy we have the three points,” he said.

The leaders are scheduled to visit third placed Transfoc FC of Kitale this weekend at St Anthony's grounds before hosting Transmara FC. In their last match this season, they will tour St Joseph of Nakuru.

In other results, Shabana FC won 3-1 against struggling St Joseph at Mosocho grounds in Kisii, with Oscar Oketch bagging a hat-trick, while St Joseph’s consolation goal was scored by Joseph Mumo.

Transfoc FC registered a slim 1-0 away victory against Bondo before Transmara Sugar recorded a similar victory against Bungoma Super Stars.

“We agreed to utilise our scoring opportunities during the first half and later dominate the match in second half something that we managed,” said Shabana’s Oscar Oketch.
