Kenyan international winger Paul Were announced his return with an assist as AFC Leopards hit Posta Rangers 3-1 in a SportPesa Premier League match at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on Thursday.

Kenneth Mutembei opened the scoring in the fourth minute but Brian Marita equalised five minutes later after Posta goalkeeper Martin Lule failed to deal with Robinson Kamura's long range shot.

Kamura sent Leopards ahead on 40 minutes from a free-kick after Whyvonne Isuza had been brought down by Ezekiel Nyati.

Isuza ensured his name was on the score sheet two minutes after the restart, tapping home Paul Were's cross from the left flank.

Were, who penned a three0month deal with Leopards early this month from Greek side FC Trikala, showed flashes of brilliance with his mazy runs on the flanks that forced Posta defenders on the back foot before his substitution on 65 minutes for another midseason acquisition Boniface Mukhekhe.

Posta huffed and puffed to reduce the deficit but all their efforts were thwarted by a vigilant Leopards backline led by Kamura and Abdallah Salim as David "Cheche" Ochieng marshalled the central midfield.

Victory lifts Ingwe to 10th position on 30 points, nine points ahead of relegation-threatened Posta who whitewashed Mount Kenya United 6-2 in their last match.
