What you need to know:

  • The mailmen dominated the affair under the scorching Machakos sun but they failed to convert their chances to remain second from bottom

  • On 35 minutes, a communication breakdown involving Lloyd Wahome and Hillary Wandera led to a throw in that Jockins Atudo delivered into the box only for Peter Ng'ang'a to head on the roof of the net

  • A minute later, Posta broke on the counter with Ng'ang'a playing Ingotsi through on goal but the former AFC Leopards man dallied to shoot before Tusker cleared their lines

Posta Rangers failed to make their dominance against Tusker count settling for a barren draw in a SportPesa Premier League match at Kenyatta stadium, Machakos on Saturday.

The mailmen dominated the affair under the scorching Machakos sun but they failed to convert their chances to remain second from bottom.

A point sends Tusker temporarily second on the log with 18 points similar to Bandari who host AFC Leopards on Sunday in Mombasa. Posta remain 17th with seven points.

Marcellus Ingotsi combined with Jared Obwoge who played a give and go with Calvin Odongo but the latter's shot at goal from inside the box was saved by Tusker's Rwandese custodian Emery Mvuyekure at the half hour mark.

Two minutes later, Tusker won a free kick in a promising position after Joseph Mbugi tripped Jackson Macharia. Sydney Ochieng curved it over the bar.

On 35 minutes, a communication breakdown involving Lloyd Wahome and Hillary Wandera led to a throw in that Jockins Atudo delivered into the box only for Peter Ng'ang'a to head on the roof of the net.

John Kamau's men had a better start to this 15th meeting between the two sides as Robert Matano's charges, who had a better head-to-head record, played cautiously.

Odongo was fed by Jared Obwoge two minutes after restart but gifted Mvuyekure an easy task by handling his feeble shot.

The former Kariobangi Sharks forward was denied by the upright on 53 minutes from an Obwoge cut back.

A minute later, Posta broke on the counter with Ng'ang'a playing Ingotsi through on goal but the former AFC Leopards man dallied to shoot before Tusker cleared their lines.

A vigilant Posta defence led by Atudo, who was the busiest on the afternoon, denied Tusker maximum points.

Tusker play Bandari next as John Kamau visits his former employers Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB).
