Shabana maintained their perfect start to the National Super League with a 2-1 win over Kangemi All Stars at Camp Toyoyo on Friday.

The win means Shabana have won all their three matches having opened their campaign with a 1-0 win against St Joseph's Youth in Nakuru before edging Nairobi City Stars with a similar score line at Gusii Stadium last weekend.

Newly-appointed Gilbert Selebwa is also yet to taste defeat since taking over in their last outing.

“It was a tough duel, but we should have scored more goals after dominating better part of the game,” said Selebwa.

The match at Camp Toyoyo was decided by goals in either half from former Sofapaka and Tusker midfielder Anthony Ndolo and Patrick Kwitonda.

The Glamour Boys, as they are fondly referred to in local football circles, missed several chances before getting the opener within 10 minutes through Ndolo.

The hosts, Kangemi, equalised through a well-taken penalty by Bonventure Atse after a Shabana defender handled in the box.

Shabana were given a lifeline with 25 minutes left but Oscar Oketch - the hero against City Stars – missed from the spot.

The penalty was awarded after Harrison Omutuku committed a foul in the box.

The visitors continued pushing for the winner and substitute Patrick Kwitonda was on target with ten minutes remaining.

With nine points from three matches, Shabana are showing promise of returning to the topflight for the first time since 2006 when they were relegated together with AFC Leopards.

Elsewhere, Wazito boosted their chances of an immediate return to the top tier when they hit hosts Migori Youth 2-0 in Awendo.

At Hope Centre, it was a disaster for the hosts City Stars who were hammered 5-0 by visiting Eldoret Youth.

It was the third consecutive loss for John Amboko's charges who had earlier lost to Wazito and Shabana (2-0 and 1-0 respectively).
