Bandari registered their second home victory, beating visiting Sony Sugar 3-0 in a thrilling Kenyan Premier League match at Mbaraki Sports Club in Mombasa on Sunday.

In Machakos, Chemelil Sugar crushed Nakumatt 4-1, as leaders Gor edged out Nzoia Sugar 1-0.

Bandari’s new signing, Ugandan William Wardi scored a brace - a goal in each half, with the third strike coming from second half substitute David King’atua.

Bandari head coach Ken Odhiambo said he was very happy with his boys performance especially the way they started the game showing hunger for scoring.

“As you’ve seen, we missed two golden scoring chances in the first minutes before securing our opening goal in the ninth minute,” said Odhiambo.

He said if the players displayed the same tempo they did against Sony, he had high hopes of the team excelling this year.

“We played a perfect game today and we can do wonders if we continue playing the same pattern in our coming matches,” he said.

He said the two goal scorer Wardi was signed from Maroon FC of Uganda and that he introduced him 20 minutes before time against Gor Mahia in Machakos two weeks ago.

However, Sony Sugar head coach Salim Babu said they conceded three easy goals that they should not have.

“Bandari is not a good team but we gave them the game, they got three easy goals,” he said.

Babu complained the playing field did not suit them because they played a passing game but found that difficult because the field was bumpy.

“Had the ground been good, we would have been able to play our usual game,” he said.

It took the home team nine minutes to take the lead when Wardi collected a fine pass from Joshua Oyoo and beat on-rushing Sony goalkeeper Kevin Omondi.
