Former champions Tusker on Sunday completed the double over Kariobangi Sharks with a 2-0 win over the domestic cup holders in the SportPesa Premier League at the Moi International Sports Centre in Kasarani.

Timothy Otieno and Boniface Muchiri scored a goal apiece in the second half as the brewers condemned Sharks to their sixth match without a win. The brewers climbed to fifth on the standings with 37 points.

Tusker hit Sharks 3-1 in the first leg at the Ruaraka grounds.

Former Gor Mahia man Otieno sent Tusker ahead in the 64th minute, and his efforts were complemented by Muchiri who shook the net in the 73rd minute with yet another header.

It was a game in which Tusker coach Robert Matano made a single change from the starting starting line-up that beat KCB 1-0 on Thursday, handing defender Eugene Asike a debut on his return to the Ruaraka-based side.

Asike, who had a short unsuccessful stint in Zambia with Nkana FC, signed for Tusker a fortnight ago and was named in the starting line-up for the first time in place of Justine Omary who is serving a one match ban.

“The team is improving every day and I like the progress. Today we were the better side despite the fact that Sharks are nowadays a very strong and sometimes unpredictable side. I want the players to continue working hard and stay focused because we are not where we should be. We need to improve on our position on the league standings,” Matano said in his post-match address.

Sharks will remain eighth on 31 points.
