Tusker on Saturday compounded Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) FC’s woes with a 3-1 thrashing in an early SportPesa Premier League kick off at Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos.

The Brewers grabbed the lead through defender Lloyd Wahome after seven minutes. KCB’s Simon Abuko restored parity nine minutes with a rasping shot to the roof of the net after being teed up by Clinton Kisiavuki.

Three minutes to halftime, Sydney Ochieng ensured Tusker went back to the sheds ahead after he latched onto a Timothy Otieno’s through ball to beat KCB’s Tanzanian goalkeeper Peter Manyika with a low drive into the bottom left corner.

Otieno ensured that the Brewers closed the year on a high after he rose highest and nodded home Kevin “Ade” Omondi’s waited cross with a quarter an hour remaining on the clock.

Ochieng thought he had a brace on 50th minute but his header from Otieno’s cross was chalked off by assistant referee’s offside flag. Manyika would parry left back Sammy Meja’s dangerous free kick nine minutes later for a fruitless corner.

KCB remain winless after losing their first two games and drawing 1-1 with Bandari last weekend.

The Bankers tactician kept faith with Manyika, who has shipped in eight goals so far, between the sticks. Bethuel Warambo and former AFC Leopards man Mike Kibwage partnered in the defence.

Diminutive striker Ezekiel Odera, back to his former club on loan from Leopards, fired blanks abainst his former boss Robert Matano.

KCB will travel to Mathare United as Tusker visit cash strapped Vihiga United in their first league matches of 2019.
