Football Kenya Federation Women Premier League (WPL) side Wadadia FC is mourning the sudden demise of their team manager Yusuf Omenda who collapsed and died instantly.

Omenda passed on as his team was playing Vihiga Leeds in a WPL match which ended in a 3-3 stalemate at the Mumias Sports Complex on Sunday afternoon.

Reports indicate that Omenda has been suffering from high blood pressure.

"He was going to buy drugs from the chemist when he collapsed and died instantly," said Bernard Nato, an eye witness.

Nato revealed that they had exchanged greetings outside the stadium when the deceased boarded a motorbike but collapsed even before the rider started the engine.

"I rushed to help him up but I was late. When I reached him, he had already collapsed and in the efforts to raise him up, we realized that he was no more," added Nato.

His body was moved to his house at Manyatta estate in Mumias town before it was later taken to his rural home at Maraba village in Mumias East sub-county where he will be laid to rest according to Islamic laws.

Vihiga Queens beat Thika Queens 4-1 in another match played at the same venue on Sunday.
