  • On Tuesday, the free-to-air partners NTV and Kwese Free Sports unveiled their advertising offerings for live matches of the World Cup.

Egypt’s opening clash of the 2018 Fifa World Cup is among 32 thrilling games set to be aired live and exclusively free on NTV.

This follows an agreement between Nation Media Group and Kwese Free Sports TV, entailing the former to screen live matches of the world’s most popular sports event set for Russia from June 14 to July 15.

As a result, NTV guarantees its audience live coverage of all group stage matches involving the five African teams at the competition, starting with Egypt’s game against Uruguay. This contest involving the seven-time African champions against Luis Suarez’ Uruguay is set for the Central Stadium in Yekaterinburg on June 15.

Watch out for Croatia’s clash with Nigeria — arguably Africa’s most supported team — on June 16.

Nigeria’s cast for this match includes Chelsea star Victor Moses, CSKA Moscow’s Ahmed Musa and Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi.

“Besides the matches involving Argentina, England Brazil, and, of course, the defending champions Germany, which we also are showing live, those games involving African teams are eagerly anticipated by our viewers,” said Alex Kobia, Nation Media Group broadcast division director.

“We are preparing to hand those watching the games on NTV an experience of a lifetime.” Besides the group matches, NTV will also relay 15 knock-out matches live including the quarter-finals, semi-finals and of course the final on July 15.

On Tuesday, the free-to-air partners NTV and Kwese Free Sports unveiled their advertising offerings for live matches of the World Cup.

NTV’s commercial head, Jimmy Nzivo, said there will be limited advertising slots available before, during and after each match. And with the enthusiastic response so far from advertisers, he urged those who haven’t come on board to seize the offerings as soon as possible.

“NTV is available on all digital boxes in the market. There is a total of 5.5 million in the market with NTV’s signal coverage for Kenya at 85.8 per cent,” Nzivo said.
