Western region ‘Chapa Dimba’ tournament is on

Fireworks are expected when the Western Region Chapa Dimba na Safaricom finals for the under-20 boys and girls kicks off at Kanduyi Stadium in Bungoma, this weekend.

The two-day event will be graced by top Football Kenya Federation (FKF) officials led by their president Nick Mwendwa.

The entourage will also be accompanied by local and international football scouts.

FKF North Western branch secretary Caleb Amwayi said four boys and four girls’ team drawn from Western and North Western branches qualified for the regional finals.

In the boys’ first semi-final encounter, Mukumu Boys from Kakamega will lock horns with Emanani Secondary (Butere/Mumias) from 8.30am on Saturday.

The second semi-final encounter will see Lugari Blue Santos battle with Mt Elgon’s Kapsokwony Secondary School from 10am.

In the girl’s category, the first semi-final match will involve Bishop Njenga Secondary School (Lugari) versus Chelelei Secondary (Teso) from 12.30pm.

Kigandole Secondary School from Busia will take on Shinyalu Youth Centre (Kakamega) in the second semi-final.

Speaking to reporters in Kakamega on Thursday, Amwayi said the winners in both categories will pocket Sh200,000 each.

The two winners will proceed to the National Championships that will be held on March 32 at Bukhungu stadium in Kakamega.
