Gor Mahia stand-in captain Philemon Otieno has attributed their progress to the Caf Confederation Cup group stage at the expense of Cameroon side New Stars de Douala to good preparations.
Gor held the Cameroonian minnows to a barren draw in the playoff reverse fixture on Sunday in Limbe to advance 2-1 on aggregate.

“We had our game plan which worked out,” revealed Otieno, who was handed the armband in the absence of Harun Shakava, who is serving a two-match suspension.
“We stayed compact as a team because we had prepared well for a tough encounter. We’ve also learnt a lot in this continental fixtures especially when playing away from home that you’ve to be mentally strong,” added the former Ushuru midfielder.
