What you need to know:

  • "Some of the German coaches celebrated by running in our direction, rubbing it into our faces by making gestures, and that really got me annoyed and angry," he said.
  • "There were many people on our bench who were very annoyed.
  • "We fought it out for 95 minutes and when the final whistle goes you (should) shake hands and leave, so I was very angry with that."

Sweden boss Janne Andersson has hit out at Joachim Low and his coaching staff for their celebrations following Toni Kroos' sensational winner for Germany in Saturday's dramatic World Cup encounter.

Kroos netted with a magnificent free-kick in the dying embers of the clash in Sochi, salvaging a 2-1 win for the defending champions whose hopes of progressing from Group F would have taken a significant blow without the late intervention.

However, ugly scenes between the two sets of coaches unfolded on the touchline after the final whistle, with the officials forced to intervene.

And, when asked to give his version of events in his post-match news conference, Andersson did not hold back in criticising the Germany coaching team.

"Some of the German coaches celebrated by running in our direction, rubbing it into our faces by making gestures, and that really got me annoyed and angry," he said.
