Coca Cola joins Kenya Open sponsors list

Even as the 50th edition of the Barclays Kenya Open entered its half way stage at the par 71 Muthaiga Golf Club course on Friday, more money towards the event was being received by the event organisers, Kenya Open Golf Limited.

Coca-Cola, through it's Central, East and West Africa franchise, was named as the sole beverage sponsor for the event.

Through its premium water brand Keringet, Coca-Cola has been providing beverages for professional and amateur golfers, as well as the hundreds of golf fans who are attending the four-day long golf tournament.

Speaking during the handover of theSh3.5 million sponsorship to the Kenya Open kitty, Coca-Cola’s Marketing and Asset’s Manager- Central East and West Africa, Andrew Alovi said: “We are proud to once again be part of this prestigious tournament that marks the beginning of the European Tour Golf tournament. Marking the Golden Jubilee celebration is especially significant because it is testimony of the great value Kenya has given to golf. We are here to support and cheer the golfers by providing our beverages to quench their thirst as they participate in the tournament."

This year, Kenya Open is one of the most lucrative tour in the European tour qualifier after raising its prize fund to Sh60.2 million (€500,000) to mark the 50th edition of the tournament. It is also one of the longest-running African events on the European circuit, attracting some of the best golf players from all over the world.

The tournament has played a huge role in marketing the country as a golf tourism destination.
