Handicap 21 Kamau wins in Ruiru

What you need to know:

  • He took the men’s prize ahead of Samuel Otieno on 37 points, and finishing in third place in the men’s section was Stanley Kingara with 35 points.
  • In the ladies category, Jane Kanari posted 29 points to win on countback from Catherine Wambui, while Margaret Kamau was third on 27 points.

Despite double-bogeying the last three holes, handicap 21 Jimm Kamau beat men’s winner Ciira Kiiyukia on countback to claim overall title in MIG Corporate golf tournament at Ruiru Sports Club at the weekend.

Kamau, who double-bogeyed most of the long holes in addition to three par fours, posted 18 points in the first nine and 20 at the back nine for a total of 38 points.

Kiiyukia carded 19 points in each nine to also wind up with 38.

He took the men’s prize ahead of Samuel Otieno on 37 points, and finishing in third place in the men’s section was Stanley Kingara with 35 points.

In the ladies category, Jane Kanari posted 29 points to win on countback from Catherine Wambui, while Margaret Kamau was third on 27 points.

GUEST WINNER

Handicap 29A hmed Ali was guest winner with 34 points, and the nines went to Patrick Wamae and Patrick Miitii both with 19 points each. Ahmed Ali and Mary Muthoni won the longest drive contest, with Bernard Omondi and Beatrice Waweru going home the nearest to pin prize.

At Muthaiga, the par-71 course proved tough to golfers during the Kenya Power corporate golf tournament where George Gathu carded 36 points to win the overall title, with men’s winner Peter Karare returning 34 points.

In third place was Richard Kibugi (33 points) after beating Jan Mohammed and Peter Kiguru on countback.

Limuru’s Caroline Wangari won also with 33 points ahead of Mary Muthoni and Vet Lab Sports Club lady captain Rachel Ndei on 30 and 29 points respectively.

Sammy Gathuri was the best guest on 34, one better than Muthaiga captain James Ondigo and Andrew Okeyo. Leading the Lady guests was Olive Njagi on 35, one better than Ann Wanyoike 34 points.

The nines went to Anthony Irungu and Selest Kilinda on 19 and 20 points and the staff prize went to Anthony Mwangi with 20 points. Susan Ndolo was the best staff lady on 32 points.

On-form Emmanuel Njugu  clinched the junior title with 34, with George Wainaina leading the seniors with a score of 31 points.

OGUTU WON

At Vet Lab Sports Club, Steve Orinda Ogutu won the Ruiru Dam Charity tournament with a score of 36 points.

The men’s winner was Daul Stiin on 34m after a countback with John Mwaura.

Thomas Gatumbi was third on 33 points, while Mary Karano posted 28 to win the first prize among the ladies, followed by Grace Waiganjo.

Dan Thiongo and Thomas Gatumbi won the nines with 18 points each.
