Limuru Country Club’s John Karichu beat Vet Lab’s Isaiah Otuke by two shots, to claim the Trans Nzoia Open golf title at the par 73 Kitale Golf Club course on Sunday.

The plus one handicap Karichu, who led in the first and second rounds with scores of 73 and 72, fired three over par 76 in the closing round for a 54- hole total of 221 gross.

He birdied three times though a bogey at the 16th and a double on the short hole-13th where three putted, denied him a clean round though he was all the same happy to win his first national title this year.

“The greens were abit better today though still very tricky and difficult," said Karichu.

On the other hand, Otuke who made a slow start having posted 78 in the first round, shot 72 and 73 in the last two rounds for 223 to finish second, though just a shot better than Railway’s Samuel Njoroge who combined 74, 72, and 78 for 224.

In fourth place was Vet Lab’s Robinson Owiti on 225 after rounds of 75m 76 and 74.

The Great Rift Valley’s Simon Njogu and deaf golfer Issac Makokha of Vet Lab tied in sixth place on 228.
