Kenyan pro golfer lands role in Zambia

Kenyan professional golfer Anil Shah has landed a job at Bonanza Golf club, Zambia and Southern Africa’s newest golf course.
Shah, formerly at Muthaiga Golf club, will be the head professional at Bonanza, situated in the Bonanza Residential Community Estate, North East of Lusaka.
Opened nine months ago, Bonanza offers a Peter Matkovich type of a course, designed and signed by Louis Van Der Walt, offering Lusaka and tourists alike with world class golfing and practice facilities, social clubhouse, along with conferencing and function opportunities.
Bonanza Estate is a residential community, featuring 5-acre plots in a pristine and peaceful environment, offering the perfect balance of country living close to Lusaka.
Located off the Great East Road, it means one has direct access to Lusaka’s major thoroughfare.
“I just decided to apply since they were looking for a PGA Professional, and I have the qualification. I am happy they offered me a two-year contract," said Shah, who said he will now represent the club as his home club in international events.
“And since I am allowed to play events, I will be coming home in July for the KCB Karen Masters at Karen Country Club.
"I am so grateful to the director of golf here at Bonanza Golf club Charles Jerrad for accepting me as the head professional," added the 40-year-old, who turned pro at an early age of 15 years and featured in the Sunshine Tour, where he played in most of the events in Southern Africa including the South Africa Open, the second oldest open in the world.
