Local pros eager to test class of foreign players at Kenya Open

Kenya’s professionals are all set to take on the visiting players at this year’s Barclays Kenya Open which gets under way at the par 72 Karen Country Club course on Thursday.
Long-hitting Dismas Indiza was the best placed Kenyan among the three who made the cut last year.
Indiza has not showed his usual top form thus far this season though he won the second of the three Barclays Kenya Open pre-qualifying events at Limuru.
However, according to one of the 22 players, David Wakhu, the likes of Indiza, Tony Omuli, Nelson Simwa, Greg Snow, David Opati, Riz Charania, Brian Njoroge, Simon Ngige are likely to play well.
“We have all been playing well this season and going by the condition of the course, it is only the greens which will be a serious challenge to us’’ said Wakhu after a practice round yesterday. He said he will try and see how to go round the greens. “My game is solid.”
Veteran pro Jacob Okello, who has made top-four twice at Karen, said this time the pros will not be as fatigued as they were last year. “We have played few events this time round so that everyone is strong enough to tackle the visiting players." said Okello.
He said this time at least 14 players have good sponsorship so they will not have financial issues.
