Johnnie Walker will award the first golfer to Hole-In-One at Muthaiga Golf Club’s par three-13th hole during the fifth leg of the Safari Tour Golf series whose first round is set for Sunday morning.

The lucky golfer will receive a bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue Label, courtesy of East African Breweries.

Making the announcement, East Africa Breweries Limited Marketing and Innovation Director, Graham Villiers-Tuthill, expressed the brand’s delight at awarding the prize during the Muthaiga Leg of the Safari Tour while reiterating the brand’s support towards the growth of Golf in the country.

“Johnnie Walker is pleased to announce sponsorship of the Hole-In-One Prize during the Muthaiga leg of the 2018/19 Safari Tour. The first player who holes out in one during the competition will walk away with a prized bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue Label. At KBL, we remain committed to contributing to the growth of sports in Kenya and indeed Johnnie Walker has a rich history of supporting golf locally and internationally.”

Kenya Open Golf Championship Tournament Director, Patrick Obath, said: “We are delighted to have Johnnie Walker as our hole-in-one partner for the Muthaiga leg of the Safari Tour Golf series and believe that we will see players getting out of their comfort zones to take calculated risks as they seek to win the prize. We believe that this will, in turn, enhance the scores at the event and consequently increase the competition among players.”

Speaking during the announcement, Muthaiga Golf Club’s resident Professional Golfer, Nelson Mudanyi, welcomed Johnnie Walker’s sponsorship of the Safari Tour adding that it will be an extra incentive for the players.

The announcement comes a day after Johnnie Walker unveiled Sh1 million sponsorship for the fifth leg. That with Barclays Bank’s Sh1 million, brings the total prize fund at Muthaiga to Sh3 million with the winner taking home Sh450,000.

The 72- hole event which has attracted 50 professionals from the East Africa region, starts with Saturday’s Pro-Am event where Muthaiga members and guests of Kenya Open Golf Limited and the sponsors will have a chance of playing with the professionals
