What you need to know:

  • In the greater Nairobi County, action will be Royal Nairobi Golf Club, Muthaiga and Vet Lab.
  • The par 72 Royal course will be the venue of Toyota Kenya Golf Day while Muthaiga is hosting the AHF Chairman’s Golf Challenge, with long Vet Lab course, which will host the second leg of the Safari Pro Tour series, the venue of the Supergolf Championship.

Fresh from hosting last weekend’s Syngenta Golf Tournament, the high altitude Nyahururu Golf Club will again be a busy place as the par 72 course hosts the Lady Captain’s Prize.

Sponsored by K-Link 2UAfrica. Com, CountrySide and Tower Sacco, this weekend’s tournament for 2017 Lady Captain Judy Nyambura has attracted a big field of 151 players drawn from Nakuru, Njoro, Nyeri and hosts Nyahururu.

They will be battling for an array of prizes courtesy of the sponsors which include some for invited guests.

During last weekend Syngenta tournament, current lady captain Susan Hiuko was in her best form as she produced an excellent score of 42 points, to beat Fr. Nicholas Kiboi on countback for the overall prize.

“Everything worked well for me last weekend, and I hope I will be able to repeat that performance this Saturday," said Hiuku, adding that the course was currently in an excellent condition and easy for one to score as long as one stay on the fairway.

Besides Hiuki, Fr Kiboi, others expected to play on Saturday include James Murage, youngster Mark Kamande, John Gitau and the long hitting Dennis Kigundu.

GOVERNOR'S CUP

While Murage carded 40 points last weekend, the other three tied fourth on 39 points.

This weekend’s starting list also includes former captain Simon Ngugi, Nakuru’s Patrick Aweyo, Cyrus Lwenyi and veterans Maina Kigundu and Robert Kimemia.

Because of the big field assuming all those drawn will turn up, teeing off is set for 7.15am.

Still in Laikipia County, Nanyuki Sports Club, will host the Governor’s Cup which has also attracted a good field and where a number of prizes will be at stake.

Those drawn include the handicap 15 Richard Kabugi who last weekend carded an impressive 40 points to finish third in the Vivo Energy tournament at Nyeri Golf Club, beaten on countback by former Nyeri captain Joel Githanda.

Also finishing on 40 was Ephantus Mate and Arthur Muchiri while with a point behind was long hitter Dan Weru.

All of those are drawn at the small but tight course which requires a high degree of accuracy.

Meanwhile, Thika Sports Club will host the NetPaq tournament which has, as usual, attracted a huge field.
