Handicap three Omondi last man standing on Ruiru course

Bernard Omondi, one of the leading golfers in the country and a member of Ruiru Sports Club at the weekend claimed the overall title in Banda Homes Golf  tournament at the par-72 Ruiru Sports Club course.

The handicap three Omondi bogeyed three holes at the front nine with only a birdie at the seventh to cross to the back nine with two over par 17 points.

He however double-bogeyed the 14th though an eagle at the 16th and a birdie at the home green saw him finish with 21 points for a total of 38 points.

High handicappers claimed the rest of the prizes, led by men winner Willy Kagicha who posted 16 and 21 to beat Kamau Kimenju (17, 20) and Samson Mwongela (19, 18) on countback.

Catherine Wambui led in the ladies section with 35 points, two better than Mary Muthoni while Winnie Kamau was third on 29 points.

Ronald Mwenesi was the best guest on 35 and claiming the nines were Thomas Mwaura and Stanley Mwangi on 19 and 22 points.

At Muthaiga, Michael Itote beat Sports Kenya chairman Fred Muteti and Jackson Ongubo on countback with 39 points, to win the Laxcon Sika golf tournament.

John Gitonga on seven over par 78, won the gross title and Njeri Mugo edged Samira Furrer on countback with 25 points to claim the ladies first prize.

In the guest category, Dixit Gorasia posted 31 points, to win by one from past Kenya Golf Union chairman Parshu Hirani while Kellie Gachaga was the junior winner on 37 points.

The nines went to Julius Mutethia on 19 and Anthony Irungu  with 23 points.

At Limuru; John Paul won Vivo Energy tournament with a score of 39 points, winning by point from Maina Mbai, Gitau Ngaruiya and Tony Gathungu.
