Rising star Tayebjee for Bidco Classic in Sigona

The par 72 Sigona Golf Club course, one of the best courses in the country at the moment, will be the venue for this weekend’s Bidco Classic.

Bidco has supported other sports functions including charity golf events, this weekend’s tournament is the first corporate event the giant oil manufacturing company is hosting.

A big field of 192 players was drawn to tackle the course which resident professional John Wangai said is likely to play long because of the on going rains.

Among the club’s leading players drawn include the youthful Adam Tayebjee, a rising star currently playing off handicap four and who is drawn with his father Hanif Tayebjee, a former elite cricket player now a handicap seven golfer.

Others include on-form Amit Modi, Deep Shah, Raju Shah, Shiv Shah, John Ndichu, Macharia Kanjumba and Amman Shah.

The Sigona course will Friday host the Women 4 Cancer tournament supported by a number of corporate organizations in the country.

In Kiambu, the nine-hole club course is hosting the CBA SME Banking. This is the second year in a row, CBA is hosting the well sponsored event.

Club member Pius Mworia says the course was in a tip top condition following seasonal rains and more than ready to stage the event that has attracted a big field of 160 golfers.

The scenic Limuru Country Club course in Tigoni will host the Vivo Energy tournament that has attracted 200 players.

Meanwhile, a number of the country’s lady golfers will be at Thika Greens for the Ladies event where a field of 100 led by Kenya Ladies Golf Union (KLGU) will battle it out.

Also drawn at Thika Greens, will be long hitter Joyce Wanjiru of Kiambu, Muthaiga’s Lucie Maina, Florence Maina and Limuru’s Mwongeli Nzioka.
