Rwanda stun Kenya, face Uganda in final

Rwanda will take on Uganda in the final of the inaugural Africa Region 4 golf championship at the par 71 Nyali Golf and Country Club course on Sunday.

“The guy was in his best form as I tried everything I could, but nothing he could not do. I was seating pretty on the green of 17th while he was outside the green. He chipped in the eagle while I missed my mine," said Nduva. In the second singles match, John Karichu was taken to the home green by Rwanda’s Emmanuel Rutayisire who holed in a par at the 18th to halve with Karichu for Kenya’s half a point.
Uganda on the other hand overcame Tanzania 2-1 with David Kamulindwa and Joseph Chinyaai beating Richard Mtweve and George Sembi 1-up in the foursomes while in the singles, Ronald Rugumayo beat Tanzania’s top amateur Victor Joseph 1-up though the Tanzanians managed a point through Abbas Adam who edged out Adolf Muhumuza 2-1.
Kenya will now play Tanzania in the third place play-off while Burundi will meet Ethiopia to decide on who finishes fifth and sixth positions. For the seventh and eighth places, DRC will take on Seychelles.
Burundi’s Jean Simbagoye and Shabani Ramadhani won 8-7 against Ruark van Deventer and Victor Yabili of DRC with Abdul Bizimana winning 1-up against George Munyao at the 18th.
Ethiopia on the other hand took all the three points from Seychelles.
Sunday’s matches start at 9.30am and will be DRC and Seychelles followed by the Burundi and Ethiopia match from 10am while Kenya and Tanzania will be battling it out from 10.30am before the final starts at 11am.
