Handicap 24 golfer Kamau wins Amari Gardens tourney

Handicap 24 golfer Joseph Kamau produced an amazing score of 45 points, to claim the overall title during the colourful Amari Gardens Golf tournament at the par 72 Ruiru Sports Club course at the weekend.

Kamau carded 22 points in the first nine, he added 23 from the back nine, to win by two points from men winner Joseph Wahome who combined 24 and 19 for 43 points. Patrick Miitii was second in the men’s section with 40 points as Irene Wamoro beat Wambui Rugu on countback with 39 points to claim the ladies title.

Pauline Mungai with 37 was third as Ciira Kiyukia and Zack Muigai clinched the two nines on 21 and 23 points. Leading the sponsors was Bernard Musau with 30 points and Charles Kinyanjui on 37 was the best guest.

At Thika Sports Club; Lady golfer Margaret Waweru was in her best form over the weekend as she fired a brilliant 42 points made up of 20 and 22 to take home the overall winner’s prize in the KETEPA golf tournament where J.K. Mbugua was the men's winner on 39 after beating M.Shiota on countback. In third place was David Matano who carded 38 points, same as lady winner Juliana Musyoka.

Jessica Kimathi on 37 points was second after beating Millicent Kimathi on countback. Ken Lucas emerged the best guest on 33 points and the nines went to S.G. Njuguna and Stephen Githiaka on 23 and 24 points.

At the par 73 Nakuru Golf Club course, George Kimani carded 41 points to claim the overall title in the CIC Insurance golf tournament, beating men winner Kisilah Gor on countback. Joseph Munene on 38 was second in the men’s category. Veteran lady golfer Sarah Ainley produced an impressive round of 40 points, to claim the ladies prize with Clem Muli on 34 finishing second.

The best score of the day however came from the guest section where Kevin Baraza combined 18 and 25 for 43 points, with S.K. Njoroge and S. Musyoka winning the nines on 21 and 22 points.

At Kiambu, the September Pendant sponsored by Grace Githere was won by Muthaiga’s Susan Kanyora with nett 70, winning by three shots from Lucy Wainaina who won the silver. The bronze title was won by Margaret Mbugua on 71 nett. In the gross section, Teresia Wainaina won with 103 and the Bronze gross went to Barbara Kinyanjui on 97 gross. The men's title went to Peter Kahuho on 74 nett after a countback with Waweru Kuria while David Kimani was third on 75 nett.
