  • This victory, his third in the series, earned him Sh150,000
  • Snow now leads the series with 77.5 points, two ahead of Dismas Indiza.

Muthaiga Golf Club’s Greg Snow on Wednesday completed a four rounds total of five under par 283, to emerge the winner of the fourth leg of the Safari Tour golf series at the par 72 Thika Greens Golf Resort course.

Snow posted 72, 71 and 70 in the first three rounds producing another 70 in the fourth and final round, to beat the long hitting Dismas Indiza by four shots.

On his way to victory, Snow had played level par first nine where he birdied the second hole before dropping a shot at the seventh. He started the back nine two straight pars before picking up a bogey at the 12th, a shot he quickly recovered with a birdie at the 13th.

This victory, his third in the series, earned him Sh150,000 plus 22 points towards the Safari Tour Order of Merit which makes him now lead with a total of 77.5 points from the four events played so far. He will start the next event in early January with a two points lead from his Indiza.

“It feels great winning three events. Hopefully, this momentum will continue up and until the Kenya Open’’ said Snow.

On the other hand, the Mumias based Indiza recovered from his poor third round 75, to post two under par 70 in day four, for an all rounds total of one under par 287 to take home the second cash prize of Sh100,000.

There was however a tight finish for the third spot between Professional Golfers of Kenya (PGK) captain John Wangai, Mombasa-based Njuguna Ngugi, and Thika Sports Club’s Simon Ngige.

Of the three, Wangai had a good finish in the final round, firing three under par 69, the lowest in the fourth leg, for an aggregate of level par 288. Then Ngugi shot one under par 71 to join Wangai on 288. Then the consistent Ngige shot his fourth straight 72, a very rare run, to join the two on level par 288 and a shot better than round one leader Tony Omuli of Golf Park who lost his grip after posting 75 in third round and finally a 74 in the closing round for 289.

Missing however in the fourth leg at Thika Greens, were the country’s top amateurs who were down in Mombasa for the grand finale of the 2018 Kenya Amateur Golf Championship (KAGC) series.
