Crews prepare for Kajiado Rally

What you need to know:

  • The Kenya Motor Sports Clubhouse in South C will host the Scrutineering of the rally cars on Saturday between 9am and 3pm.
  • Following the recent KCB sponsorship, the organizing clubs have reverted to a lower entry fees of Sh25,000 per crew.

This weekend’s KCB Kajiado Rally is set to kick off on Saturday with the official reconnaissance of the official route of the second round of the 2019 Kenya National Rally Championship.

Those drivers planning to take part in the rally, are allowed to check the entire route of the event a day before the actual competition.

No competitor is allowed to go more than two times on each of the competitive stages for while the speed limit is monitored at 80kph.

The second round of the series, will have five competitive stages with the longest measuring 51kms while the shortest will be 16km.

The total distance will be 197km long of which 166 will be competitive distances purely run on closed roads.

The route plans for the event are set to be centred around Kajiado and Machakos Counties with the official start ramp to be hosted by the KCB Branch in Kajiado.

The event, that takes place on Sunday, will be organised by the Kenya Motor Sports Club.

The fees is inclusive of Tracking Services, which is payable to KMSF.

In return, the National Motor Sports Governing Body is supposed to provide the Clubs with one helicopter, three ambulances - one at the start of open road stage and another at end of the open road stage.

The third ambulance will be stationed at Service Park, which will be joined by other two ambulances after end of first stage run on open roads.

Fast Intervention Vehicles are to be stationed at start of Competitive Stages and mid-point.

In addition to make sure that all the safety aspects are well looked into, there will also be Car Zero, which will be running twenty minutes before first Car and a Sweeper car running 3 minutes behind last competing Car.

There must be one medical tent at the Service Park at the headquarters.
