Eleven honours out of the 16 on offer in the 2018 Kenya National Rally Championship (KNRC) series have been won, with just one round of the series yet to be staged next month by the Simba Union Club of Nairobi.

Victory in Kabras Eldoret Rally held at the weekend handed the 2018 KNRC overall title to Carl Tundo and Tim Jessop for the fourth time in their rallying career.

The SPV category meant for specially modified rally cars has been won by Nikhil Sachania, the only handicapped driver in the KNRC series.

Sachania is paralyzed from the hip downwards, having suffered an accident in his Buggy during practice years ago. His navigator, Alfir Khan, has won the Division Three and SPV Navigator's titles.

''It feels great to have secured two championship belts, first in Division Three and the SPV category. My Mitsubishi Lancer car is specially modified to drive with hand controls. Our plan for next year is to upgrade the standard differential to a Rally Sport (RS) model. With one more rally to go before the end of the season, we hope to enjoy ourselves, having already secured both titles,'' Sachania told Nation Sport.

Eric Bengi and Tuta Mionki have also clinched Driver and Navigator titles in Division One.

Although Bengi has also won the Group N Drivers' Class, Mionki will have to fight it out for the Navigators Class with Ravi Chana. Both are separated by four points, with a maximum of 25 to score from the forthcoming Guru Nanak Rally.

Mombasa-based crew of Sohanjeet Puee and Adnan Din have won both the Division Two and Class S for both the Driver and Navigator Championship titles respectively. Guru Nanak Rally will be run on November 18 and will be organised by the Simba Union Club.
