Organisers of East African Safari Classic Rally will stage a mini event in August in memory of former chairman of Kenya Motor Sports Federation (KMSF) J.S Vohra.

Before his death, Vohra was known for his role in promoting motor sports in Kenya, both as chairman of KMSF and as a senior director of the East African Safari Classic Rally. He was also one of the proprietors of the Sarova Hotels and Lodges.

Pipi Renu, the Rally Manager for the world-famous marathon rally, told Nation Sports he plans to make the event glamorous and cheaper for the participants.

“We are running the first Classic Rally in August in memory of J.S.Vohra, who died tragically in a motor accident while watching the Classic Rally last year.

Money raised through entry fee will to be donated to a charity of the family’s choice," said Renu.

Renu added: “Entry fee will be Sh21,000 per car for the three-day event covering nearly 1,100 kilometers, out of which 600km will be competitive."
