After failing to host an event last year, Nanyuki will Saturday morning host the sixth round of the 2018 Kenya National Rally Championship (KNRC) Series.

Last year's competition in Nanyuki was cancelled due to heavy rains.

The rally, which has attracted 28 crews, will start at 8am from Cedar Mall in Nanyuki Town.

After the start from the Cedar Mall, cars will move to the Lolldaiga Spectator Stage for the first of the three competitive sections, which will be done twice, which will also include the Batian View.

The longest stage will be 45.95 kilometres long, while the shortest spectator stage will be 2.30km.

The total distance will be 283km, of which 159km will be competitive.

The first car is expected back at the finish by 4.30pm, followed by the prize-giving ceremony at the Batian View from 5pm.

The event comes at a time when the KNRC does not have a corporate sponsor to help low budget drivers.

For Mombasa-based Suhanjeet Singh Puee, who made his debut in rallying at the beginning of the season, it has been a struggle to stay in the series with a tight budget.

''Our budget is up to Sh300,000 per rally. We are running on a tight budget hoping to secure the Group S Championship and hopefully get a sponsor next season. Nanyuki is a big one for us. God-willing we can achieve the goals we set out to achieve at the start of the season,” he said.

The 24-year-old driver, who is seeded at number 18 in a Subaru Impreza added: ''This is my first full KNRC season and it's been a great experience so far.''
