Tundo among 20 drivers in Nakuru Rally

What you need to know:

  • Defending champion Carl ‘Flash’ Tundo, Ian Duncan and Baldev Chager will be the star attractions in the event which was flagged off at the KCB Mogotio Branch at 7am

  • The event has attracted seven cars in the premier class and a similar number in KNRC Division One

  • Drivers will tackle four stages which will be repeated twice with the longest stage being 30.74km Ankole stage and the shortest is the flat-out Sprint stage which totals 6.16km

The first round of this year’s KCB Nakuru Rally is currently underway in Nakuru County.

Twenty drivers were flagged off by KCB Bank Regional Business Manager Great Rift Victoria Kamuren and Mogotio Area MP Daniel Tuitoek at the KCB Mogotio Branch on Saturday morning.

"As a bank, we are delighted to have kicked off this year’s KCB Rally Championship series here at Nakuru in Mogotio. This is a new branch and we are proud to have made it visible through this rally. Over the years we have witnessed a massive growth in this sport and we hope that the drivers will continue to achieve excellence in this year’s KCB Rallying Championship series,” said Kamuren.

Defending champion Carl ‘Flash’ Tundo, Ian Duncan and Baldev Chager will be the star attractions in the event which was flagged off at the KCB Mogotio Branch at 7am. The race will end at the Rift valley Motors Sports Club House in Solai.

The event has attracted seven cars in the premier class and a similar number in KNRC Division One. Tejveer Rai were first off the ramp followed by Eric Bengi, Ian Duncan, Carl Flash Tundo, defending Nakuru champion Onkar Rai with Baldev Chager taking off sixth.

Eric Bengi, co-driven by Tuta Mionki in a Mitsubishi Evolution X said, “We really want to take it easy and finish the event. We need to get used to the new car and learn it well. Later in the season, our target is to hit a few podium places and record better career finishes than foruth last year.”
