The Rift Valley Motor Sports Club-organised event has already attracted 20 entries that includes majority of the leading KNRC drivers.

In the list is newly-crowned national champions Carl Tundo and Tim Jessop in their Mitsubishi Lancer EVO10.

Phineas Kimathi, the Chairman of the Kenya Motor Sports Club has promised to bring down the entry fees after securing a lucrative sponsorship deal with KCB last week.

The Nakuru Club organisers will charge Sh25,000 entry fees per crew. Several drivers will be returning to action after a short lay off.

Issa Amwari and Job Njiru, who were quiet for almost the entire last season, will return to action in their Mitsubishi Lancer Evo10.

''Our main goal in the KCB Nakuru Rally is to get to the end of the event having been out of action for a while now. Our best results were in the 2017 KNRC season when we finished fifth overall,'' said Amwari.

Others who are returning to the competition, include Albert Kigen/Tony Gichohi (VW Golf), Edward Maina/Edward Njoroge (Subaru Impreza) and John Ng'ang'a/George Njoroge (Subaru Impreza).
Jasmeet Chana, who finished seventh overall in the 2018 KNRC series is among the few top drivers, who do not have a sponsor though he has performed well at this level.
''Our aim is to finish in the top five or even better in all the events were participate in if we can.
“The car has been rebuilt from scratch. Our team consists of nine persons though we are desperately seeking a good sponsor to help us,” said Chana.
Official reconnaissance plus scrutineering of cars will be held on Friday.
