Entries flow in for Economy Run

What you need to know:

  • The Economy Run is aimed at demonstrating the fuel saving benefits of safe driving within the speed limits and the use of Total Excellium petrol. This fuel has been enriched with detergents to clean and maintain the cleanliness of engines. This results in greater efficiency, improved economy and less polluting.
  • The overall and class winners will be the competitors using the least amount of fuel within the allocated time for the Economy Run. After the finish at the Total Moi Road service station, the cars will be judged for cleanliness and condition before the prize giving at Matteo’s Italian Restaurant on the Naivasha South Lake Road.

A 1972 Alfa Spider sports car is the latest entry for the 2018 Total Excellium Economy Run. It will be crewed by Justin Melvin and his wife Louisa who are among the newcomers in the event set for Saturday.

They will contest the two litre class against Josephat Thuo in an Alfet 1972 Alfa Spider sports saloon and Micky Bassi who will drive a 1989 Alfa 75.

Peter Wanday, the Chairman of the Alfa Romeo Owners Club, has confirmed that entry list will close at 7pm Thursday and followed by the draw for the order of start at the Bidwood Suite.

The Economy Run will start from the ABC service station The route follows the main Naivasha Road along the top of the escarpment and ends in the Total Moi Road service station in the centre of Naivasha Town.

Alfa Romeo owners who are not members of the Club, have the opportunity to participate in the Economy Run by taking temporary membership for the day.
