  • Rugby 15s powerhouse St Peter’s Mumias on Friday defeated Musingu Secondary School 10-5 to storm into the semi finals of the ongoing Kakamega County Secondary Schools Term One Games.
  • St Peter’s, who finished unbeaten in their pool B preliminary matches, led 5-0 at the breather thanks to Teddy Munialo's unconverted try in the quarter-final encounter at Kakamega High School Grounds.
  • Isaac Kuloba extended St Peter's advantage in the second half as he powered through the Musingu defence to touch down the try, but the resulting conversion was however unsuccessful.

Rugby 15s powerhouse St Peter’s Mumias on Friday defeated Musingu Secondary School 10-5 to storm into the semi finals of the ongoing Kakamega County Secondary Schools Term One Games.

St Peter’s, who finished unbeaten in their pool B preliminary matches, led 5-0 at the breather thanks to Teddy Munialo's unconverted try in the quarter-final encounter at Kakamega High School Grounds.

Isaac Kuloba extended St Peter's advantage in the second half as he powered through the Musingu defence to touch down the try, but the resulting conversion was however unsuccessful.

Musingu did manage to score a try late on as Brain Luvembe showed the Saints defence a clean pair of heels to race clear to the try box, but it was all his side got as St Peter's held on for the win to move to the last four.

In the second quarter-final match, defending Champions Kakamega High School swept away Malava Secondary School 50-0 to stroll into the semi-finals.

In girls' handball, champions Mukumu Secondary School defeated Eregi Secondary School 21-3 to sail into the semis, while Butere Secondary School booked hit St. Peter’s Mumias Secondary School 21-20 in a boys' last eight encounter.

Champions Kakamega High School reached the last four in boys' hockey after beating Lubinu Secondary School 3-0, as Musingu Secondary School defeated Butere Secondary School 1-0.

In the girls' matches, Bishop Njenga Secondary School saw off Malava Secondary School 1-0 to book their semi-final slot.

In girls' basketball preliminary matches, champions Butere Secondary School whitewashed Bishop Sulumeti 73-0 in their pool B encounter.

Nangili Secondary School stopped Bulimbo Secondary School 38-8 in a pool a preliminary match.

In boys' matches, champions Kakamega High School defeated Ingotse Secondary School 76-28 in a pool C preliminary match.

Lunza Secondary School upstaged Kivaywa Secondary School 34-25 in their pool A encounter.

The Games, which end on Saturday, are being used to select teams that will represent Kakamega County at the Western Region Term One Games from March 21 to 24 at the Friends School Kamusinga.
