IN MUSANZE, RWANDA

Kenya’s Malava Boys and Kwale Girls will be looking to sign off with gold medals as the curtains fall on the 17th edition of the Brookside East Africa Secondary School Games here on Sunday.

Malava will battle it out with champions and home side St Joseph’s Rusumo in the boys’ volleyball final as Kwale Girls come up against Ugandan side Kawempe Muslimi in the girls’ football final at the Ubworoherane Stadium. The boys’ football final will be a Uganda versus Rwanda affair as Buddo take on Lycee de Kigali.

Kenya’s Kakamega High School will once again play in the third-place playoff as they lost 2-0 to LDK in Saturday’s semis, with Buddo edging out compatriots B.S Kimanya 5-3 on post-match penalties.

National champions Kwale Girls will look to complete the double after claiming the Kenyan title last month in Eldoret. The Coastal side overcame Uganda’s Mukono High School 3-0 in Saturday’s semi as Kawempe overcame 2016 champions GS Remera 5-3 on post-match penalties in the other last four encounter.

For Malava, they will be out to clinch their seventh title and their first since their last triumph in 2016 when the games were held in Eldoret. They however face a formidable opposition in Rusumo, who are gunning for their third title, and beat them in the 2015 final in Huye, Rwanda.
