Modern stadium coming up in Taita Taveta county

Taita Taveta County government has set aside Sh50 million in its budget this year for the construction of a modern stadium in Wundanyi.

According to Kaloleni Ward Representative Omar Ahmed, the county government has allocate the money to be used together with Sh100 million that the central government will provide for establishing a modern national sports facility.

Ahmed was speaking on the sideline of a volleyball tournament held at the Dawson Mwanyumba Stadium.

During the tournament, Wundanyi boys and girls teams emerged the winners against three other sub-county sides – Mwatate, Voi and Taveta.

“We believe and are committed to ensuring that the construction of the new stadium gets underway as soon as possible so that when completed, we can request to host some international matches and tournaments to benefit our people economically,” said county sports executive Bigvai Mwailemi.
