NYS Kabadi team lands Iraqi invite

The National Youth Service (NYS) Kabadi’s women’s team has landed an invitation to play in Iraq mid this year.

The team won the East African Kabadi tournament after beating the Tanzania national team last week.

The NYS women team reigned supreme after edging their hosts 57 goals to 36 goals in the tournament played at the Taifa Stadium in Dar es Salaam

The tournament attracted both male and female teams from the region. Kenya fielding three teams, among them the NYS men’s team as well as the national men’s team.

The teams were received by the NYS Director General Dr Richard Ndumbai at the NYS Headquarters on Tuesday.

Tanzania had two, which included an Indian team, while Rwanda, Uganda and Burundi had a team in each category.

The Kenyan national team beat the NYS men’s team to emerge victors in the finals of the male category. They beat NYS by 37 to 21 goals in the Kenya- dominated event.

The three Kenyan teams have been invited for a similar tournament in Uganda, which will be held next month, in a bid to raise awareness of the little known game.
