Shimba Hills Secondary school dominated the Matuga District Secondary Schools Term One games bagging four titles as Kaya Tiwi girls’ basketball team set a new scoring record en route to retaining the title as the games ended at Kwale High School and Kwale Seminary Secondary on Saturday.

The former Coast sports powerhouse won the boys’ basketball, boys’ and girls’ handball titles and the rugby sevens title to finish top of the log at the games, which were used to select teams for the Kwale County games set for Matuga Girls’ High School from February 26.

In girls’ handball, Shimba Hills beat newcomers Kaya Tiwi 12-6 in a tough final after eliminating Ambassador Mwakwere 17-7 in the semi-finals.

Kaya Tiwi saw off Kwale Girls 10-6 in another tough girls’ semi-finals in matches played at Kwale High School.

Shimba Hills Secondary made light work of Waa Boys hitting them 22-5 to win the boys’ handball title after they had dismissed Ambassador Mwakwere 19-07 in the semi-finals.

They crowned a successful afternoon with a win in the boys’ basketball and rugby sevens after seeing off Kwale High School and Kaya Tiwi respectively.

“We were down but not out and I want to assure you that we will continue with this medal haul up to the national level”, Shimba Hills’ principal and technical director Salim Kitauro said after the games.
