Kenya 7s crush USA to storm Cup quarters

Kenya stormed into the Singapore Sevens Cup quarter-finals after beating USA 33-14 in their final Pool B match at the National Stadium on Saturday.

After a 28-19 loss to England in their opening match, Kenya put up a near-perfect performance to demolish France 34-0 in their second match to set up a must-win match against Mike Friday's USA, which they brilliantly executed to storm into the last eight.

Samuel Oliech scored a brace of tries as Kenya touched down five times and four conversions to lock Friday’s charges out of contention for the Cup.

This is Kenya’s seventh Cup quarterfinals appearance this season with their best shows coming in Canada and Hong Kong where they reached the finals.

The victory, which was their second of the day, was enough to see Kenya through after they had earlier beaten France 34-0. Kenya Sevens started on a wrong footing, when they lost to England 28-19.
