Kenya and South Africa renew their fierce rivalry when they face-off in the Singapore Sevens Cup quarter-finals on Sunday at the National Stadium in Singapore.

Shujaa recovered superbly from their 28-19 opening Pool “B” loss to England to secure two successive wins against France and USA.

Consistency, so much a grey area for Kenya, seemed to be at work as they outplayed France 34-0 and USA 33-14 to storm the coveted Cup quarter-finals on Saturday, their seventh in the series this season.

It will be the fourth time Kenya and South Africa are meeting this season as Innocent Simiyu’s charges seek to notch a first win against the dominant Blitzbokke.

Pool B winners England will meet Samoa, who finished second in Pool “C” behind South Africa in the other quarter-final match.

Samuel Oliech scored a brace of tries as Kenya touched down five times with four conversions to put Mike Friday’s USA to the sword.

William Ambaka, Andrew Amonde and skipper Oscar Ouma scored Kenya’s other tries with some powerful running displays.

Experienced Collins Injera and Billy “The Kid” Odhiambo stole the show as the nearly perfect Kenya Sevens recovered from England defeat to teach France a sevens rugby lessons.

Against USA, Ambaka touched down his 106th try after completing Ouma and Dan Sikuta’s spade work. Injera would steal the line out ball before laying out Oliech, who gave a USA player a smashing hand-off to score. Oliech converted to lead 12-0 at the break.

Kevin Williams struck back for USA but Injera proved the play maker to set up Oliech, who chipped the ball before showing patience and composure to follow on and dive over for his 29th try of the series. He went on to convert before Amonde and Ouma scored their 50th and 78th career tries.
