Kenya Sevens amass seven points in Hamilton

An improved Kenya Sevens lost to England 36-7 in the Challenge Trophy final of the Hamilton Sevens on Sunday in New Zealand.

Brian Wahinya converted Vincent Onyala's try but failed to rescue Kenya from England's defeat as the Britons scored six tries and three conversions.

Kenya had beaten Tonga 19-12 in the quarterfinal and Argentina 27-7 in the semi-finals.

It was Kenya's best show this season after they collected seven points to finish 10th in Hamilton.

Kenya finished last in Dubai from where they failed to win a single match to get one point, but collected three points in Cape Town where they only beat Zimbabwe 31-19 in the semi-final for 13th place as they lost to Wales 33-26 in the final for three points.

Cape Town winners Fiji scored three tries in each half to crash USA 38-0 in the final and successfully defend their Hamilton Sevens title.

Mike Friday's USA, who have now reached the finals in the last three events and Fiji, top the standings with 57 points each, thought the Americans enjoy a better aggregate.
