Kenya Sevens drop to Challenge Trophy again

Kenya Sevens dropped to the Challenge Trophy again when they suffered their second consecutive defeat, losing to Fiji 38-7 at South Africa Sevens in Cape Town on Saturday.
The Fijians soaked the Kenyans, who had earlier lost to England 29-12, with six tries and four conversions against one converted try.
Alasio Naduva touched down a brace of tries as Meli Derenalagi and Kalione Nasoko managed one each to put the Fijians ahead 24-0 at the break.
Derenalagi completed his brace of tries as Sevuloni Mocenacagi completed their hunt against Kenya, who suffered turnovers with their every move, with a try for 38-0 lead.
Shujaa finally got to the score sheet when Derenalagi was shown a yellow card for a deliberate knock on as Vincent Onyala scored from the resultant penalty. Skipper Eden Agero converted but all was in vain.

Cyprian Kuto and Leonard Mugaisi’s exploits failed to spur Shujaa against England, who led 12-7 at the break.
England got their second successive penalty and went for a quick tap with Ethan Waddleton scoring.
But the bullish Alvin Otieno led the Kenyans attack as they managed to recycle the ball well with Kuto darting back inside for the try to level 7-7.
Kuto managed to hold on possession after restart but handed the ball straight to Alex Davis. England went for the attack as Norton dashed down the left for the try line.
It was see-saw as Kenya took advantage at the restart to break quickly down the left. Good defence from England forces them to recycle but Kenya finally broke through.
It’s Mugaisi, who made a lovely kick forward before chasing to put it down as Kenya levelled again 12-12.
Norton would score two more tries with Phil Burgess going for the other to break the Kenyans hearts.
The dry spell continued for the Kenyans who emerged through the first leg of the World Series in Dubai last weekend with one point after failing to win a single match.
