Shujaa's run in the competition was ended by Australia who beat them 26-21 in the 5th place semi-final on Monday at the Sam Boyd Stadium.

The two sides tied 21-21 at fulltime, only for Australia to seal the win one minute into the extra time.

Kenya's restart didn’t go the full ten metres and as a result, Australia launched their set-piece platform off the centre spot.

Tom Lucas came within inches of the line but he's held up before Andy Friend's side fly it wide. James Stannard was the man to power over after the excellent work of Jeral Skelton.

Billy Odhiambo, Jeff Oluoch and Willy Ambaka had scored Kenya’s converted tries as Stannard bagged two to add to Porch and Lachie Anderson’s for the Aussies.

To drop to 5th place semi, Kenya had lost 17-12 to Argentina in cup quarters after finishing second in Pool A that saw 17-14 and 19-12 wins over Fiji and Russia alongside a 14-19 defeat to France.

The United States beat Argentina 28-0 in the cup final.
